For many years, the Pella Historical Village has had volunteers lead their operations of the Vermeer Windmill. Earlier this week, the non-profit recognized longtime Head Miller Jim Brandl with an award that will now continue into the future. Director of Pella Historical Jessi Galligan says volunteers are a critical aspect of their mission to preserve Pella’s rich history. The Vermeer Windmill was designed and built in the Netherlands, de-assembled, and then rebuilt in Pella in 2002.
