The 2025 Iowa legislative session doesn’t officially start until January 13th, but lawmakers are beginning to meet to set the session’s agenda. Newton State Representative John Dunwell says Republican lawmakers are meeting this week to identify legislative priorities.

“So we will gather together as a group of Republicans and discuss what are some of the broader issues that we as a caucus believe we should be focused on as a caucus.”

During this legislative session, Dunwell will serve on the House Agriculture, Economic Development Appropriations, International Relations, and State Government Committees. The 38th House District that he represents includes the Jasper County communities of Newton, Colfax, Kellogg, Mingo, Reasnor, Lynnville, Sully, and Oakland Acres.
