Getting the weekend to rest up, the Pella Christian basketball teams return to the court Monday for a non-conference doubleheader against Des Moines Christian on Eagle Lane.
The Eagles boys and girls basketball squads are each coming off of a 1-1 week, with both teams picking up a non-conference win and falling in conference action to Norwalk on Friday. The Pella Christian boys defeated PCM on Monday, while the girls defeated Van Meter on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Des Moines Christian basketball teams each went 2-0 a week ago, picking up West Central Conference victories over West Central Valley and Interstate 35. Overall on the season, the Lions’ girls squad is 3-3, and have been led by junior Addy Oetker with team-highs of 11.3 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 5.2 steals per game. The Des Moines Christian boys are 3-1 on the winter and are led by junior Max Town, who is averaging 18.3 points and 9.7 rebounds a contest. The Eagle and Lion boys last met a year ago, with Des Moines Christian winning 75-55 in Urbandale. The last meeting between the girls teams was at Wells Fargo Arena during the 2022-2023 season, with the Lions taking that contest 48-29.
