After being iced out on Friday, the Knoxville Basketball Squads look to Chariton tonight as both try to keep their perfect starts to the South Central Conference season. For the girls, the Panthers will have a challenge for going up against the Chargers on the short court of the Charger Dome where according to Coach Matt Ritchhart Chariton will spread its defense and usually press, which Knoxville has not handled well this season.
Ritchhart: “They’ve obviously lost a lot from last year, and lost a lot of talent. Coach Lee is a good coach and knows how to pressure, and we’ve not handled the press well. So hopefully we’ll keep making improvements.”
The boys will play another opponent in the conference that the Panthers will likely be a heavy favorite. Knoxville is averaging nearly 80 points per game in its first two wins over Cardinal and Clarke. The Chargers like the girls lost a lot to graduation last season. Live coverage can be heard on 95.3 KNIA with the pregame at 6:15 and the girls tip off at 6:30.
