Norwalk will host a girl-boy basketball doubleheader against Lewis Central tonight while the Warrior boys wrestling team travels to Newton for a quad.
Norwalk will wrestle Southeast Warren, Carlisle and the host Cardinals in a meet starting at 5:30 p.m. The Warriors enter the night with a 2-0 dual record, having defeated Dallas Center-Grimes and Oskaloosa in Little Hawkeye Conference competition. Carlisle is fifth in the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association’s Class 3A preseason rankings.
The varsity basketball doubleheader featuring Norwalk vs. Lewis Central begins at 6:00 p.m. and can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA as well as kniakrls.com (KNIA3). Pregame coverage will begin at approximately 5:45.
The Class 4A fourth-ranked Norwalk girls bring a 7-0 overall record into the non-conference matchup and will be looking to avenge a pair of single-digit losses at LC last season. The Titans, who are currently 2-3 overall, ended the Warriors’ season, 53-49, in last year’s Class 4A regional finals.
The Norwalk boys have won three consecutive games since opening the season with a two-point loss at Ballard. Lewis Central is off to a 3-0 start, but has lost six straight meetings with Norwalk. The Warriors won last year’s game 71-47 at LC.
