A 2022 Pella High School graduate is the newest member of the Pella Police Department.

Bailey Knouse was sworn into office at Tuesday’s Pella City Council meeting. Knouse was a member of the state-championship Forte dance team and the Pella Marching Dutch before heading to Iowa State University for a degree in Criminal Justice — which she is set to receive on Saturday. Knouse looks forward to serving her hometown in a different way. Bailey will head to the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in January.

She is the newest member after the hiring of Officer Calvin Wilner earlier this year, who just finished his law enforcement certification and is already serving the Pella community. Wilner is a Central College graduate who will begin working on his own after completing his training in early 2025.
