The search for the next Administrator of the Jasper County Veterans Affairs Office is officially underway. On Friday, the full-time position was posted on Jasper County’s website. Applications are being accepted up to 4 p.m. on January 10th. The listed salary range based on qualifications and experience is $54,629 to $68,094. The Jasper County Veterans Affairs Administrator reports directly to the Jasper County Veterans Affairs Commission.
The Commission just fired the previous Administrator, Alyssa Wilson, after an internal investigation into her work habits. Commissioners said over the past three months, they could not account for 45 hours of Wilson’s work. They believe she was coming in late, leaving early, and taking vacation and sick time without their knowledge.
Jasper County Human Resources Director Dennis Simon says the Veterans Affairs Office is currently operating with outside assistance from the state and Veterans Affairs Offices in neighboring counties.
“We should have assistance in the office, if not everyday, at least every other day for the next several weeks.”.
The job posting for the Administrator’s position states veteran’s status is preferred but not mandatory, and the selected candidate must be a resident of Jasper County or willing to relocate to Jasper County within one year of being hired.
