The Newton Girls wrestling team finished fifth while the Knoxville girls finished tenth at the Chariton Charger Girls Invitational on Saturday.

The Cardinals and Panthers competed alongside 17 other teams at the event. The Cardinals finished with 119 team points. Newton had two first place finishers at the tournament with Kylee Adams placing first at 105 pounds and Ella Machin finishing first at 170 pounds. Stella Cupples had a second place finish at 115 pounds while Kamiya Lepley placed fourth at 155. 

The Panthers finished with 81 total team points at the event. Knoxville’s top finishers were Serenity Turner placing second at 105 pounds, Mariah Ripperger placing third at 235, and Andie Branson placing fourth at 140. 

The Knoxville girls wrestling team will next compete on January 3rd at Eddyville while the Cardinals will be back in action on January 9th at Ames.
