With a favorable forecast set for Christmas celebrations this week, there will be several people on area roadways going to and from holiday destinations.

Pella Police Captain Paul Haase reminds everyone who is traveling to do so safely, especially with extra traffic expected. He says to obey all posted traffic laws, wear a seatbelt, and avoid driving while intoxicated or distracted to maximize the chances everyone can get to their celebration.

The Pella Police Department joins several local and state police agencies with extra enforcement in place through the New Year’s holiday. Additionally, Haase reminds everyone to be mindful in downtown Pella as shoppers make last-minute purchases, with increased pedestrian traffic also likely.
