There are just three more opportunities to take in the 4th Annual Tree-mendous Christmas at the Jasper County Historical Museum in Newton.
The Museum is full of over 200 decorated Christmas trees and other Christmas decorations. The final viewings are Christmas Day, Saturday, and Sunday. Larry Hurto is one of the volunteers at the museum during Tree-mendous Christmas. He says hundreds of people have already visited, and he has personally talked to people from Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Carolina, and South Dakota. Dave Rorabaugh chairs the special Christmas event, and says it’s one of a kind.
“We have people that say this is really something great! So I think anybody that misses this is missing out on a tremendous Christmas experience.”
There is no admission charge, but free will donations are accepted. According to Rorabaugh, the money raised by this one event covers about a third of the museum’s operating budget.
The hours for Christmas day are 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., while the museum will be open 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. this Sunday. The Jasper County Historical Museum is located at 1700 South 15th Avenue West in Newton.
