The Indianola City Council held a discussion about the reimbursement of a traffic study regarding the Kentucky Ridge Development Project at their meeting Thursday. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News each development agreement between the developers and the city is unique, and a traffic study was necessary for this project due to the location adjacent to Highway 65/69 and the Scooter’s Coffee location on the corner. Reeves added this development was a little different as data indicated there could be a change at the intersection even before the development was planned.
“This one is a little bit unique because of the Scooter’s situation, because of the accidents that had taken place in the past on Kentucky. The results of the study showed that a light was warranted even before the development went in. So I know our mayor and a few others are very passionate about wanting to reimburse the study, where the council is a little concerned because we don’t want to set a precedent where we reimburse these studies when we require it of everybody. But this one is unique, and I think the council is going to determine what is best and how to renumerate the developer in that regard.”
