Dog owners this winter should be careful to check their paws for possible damage during the cold weather. Warren County Health Services says you should check for cracked or bleeding paw pads due to possible ice, salt, antifreeze, or other products accumulating in their toes. It is recommended when you get back inside, wipe down or wash your pet’s feet, legs and belly to remove these chemicals and reduce the risk that your dog will be poisoned. It is also recommended pet owners consider using pet-safe de-icers on your property to protect your pets and the others in your neighborhood.
