The Knoxville Community School District has officially closed on the Ken Locke Stadium property with the Knoxville Alumni Association.

The purchase agreement for the property was finalized at a school board meeting in early October. The Knoxville School Board agreed to sell the property to the alumni association’s Save Our Stadium Committee for $5,000. The SOS committee wants to transform the property into a community space for everyone to enjoy. Representatives from the SOS Committee have stated at a previous school board meeting that it has been hard to fundraise for renovations without having ownership of the property.

A social media post by the school district says “as a school district, we are thrilled about the association’s vision for this incredible space. We look forward to the amazing contributions the Alumni Association will bring to our community after completing their planned restorations of this historic site.”

The SOS Committee is in the process of fundraising for the renovation.
