Prairie City has a vacant City Council position to fill, and the Prairie City City Council plans to fill it by an appointment.
Emily Simmons has resigned. She is one of five council members elected in citywide elections in Prairie City. Any Prairie CIty resident interested in being appointed to the City Council needs to contact Prairie City’s City Hall no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8th. Those interested will be expected to participate in a candidate forum later that night, during the regular 6 p.m. city council meeting. The appointment to the vacant city council seat is scheduled to occur that night as well.
Prairie City residents can file a petition requiring the vacancy be filled by special election. That petition must be filed with the City Clerk by January 2nd.
