The City of Knoxville is looking forward to continued progress and momentum in 2025.
It was an exciting year in 2024 for the Knoxville community in many different aspects. Among the city’s highlights over the last year were officially being gifted land from the Knoxville Community School District for their new public safety/city hall facility, continued work on downtown revitalization through the facade program, hosting thousands of RAGBRAI riders for an overnight stay, another successful Knoxville Nationals, months of work on the street improvement project, and new businesses coming to town.
The city also saw continued development with the Veterans District and additional housing options. 20 of the 34 lots in the VA District are now sold and the district will welcome a new Hugerich Holdings apartment complex in 2025. The city will also see another Kading housing development next to the current development which will bring roughly 250 additional units of rental housing to town. Knoxville will also retain their thriving community designation through 2025 and City Manager Heather Ussery says she is excited about all of the progress being made.
“I’m very excited. I’m going on four years in this actual position and almost 20 years with the City of Knoxville so over that time I’ve seen a lot of changes. These last several years have been very exciting. A lot of changes that we have been working on for so many years have been falling into place for our community and I’m hopeful that all of that momentum will continue into 2025.”
