The Indianola Fire Department is now under the leadership of Chief Aaron Hurt, who takes over for retiring Chief Greg Chia. Chief Hurt tells KNIA News training will continue to be a major priority for the department under his tenure, and not just the Indianola Fire Department personnel, but the community at large.

“Equipping the individual citizen to be able to respond, I think is important. We have limited resources, and if we are to endure a large-scale incident maybe brought on by an adverse weather incident, we need our community to be able to activate and provide until we can get the resources to respond to them. So those are some of the things I would want the community to look forward to during this tenure, enhancing our preparedness and equipping individuals to be able to respond to emergencies. Community risk reduction and meaningful practice that would prepare them for those types of events.”
