Newton boys and girls wrestling and boys swimming have their first meets after the winter break tonight. 

It will be Senior Night at the Newton YMCA where the Cardinal boys swim against Marshalltown. Ten seniors will be recognized, including Ethan Comer and MacK Copeland. On December 10th, Comer and Copeland and juniors Evan Marshall and Finn Martin set a new school record in the 200 meter freestyle relay. The new record time they set at the Newton YMCA was 1:42.53. The previous record was 1:43.61 set in 2015.

The Newton boys and girls wrestling teams travel to Oskaloosa tonight for dual meets. The Cardinal wrestlers haven’t competed since Saturday, December 21st. The boys team placed 6th out of 16 teams at the Bill Van Horn invitational in Pella, while the girls finished 5th out of 17 teams at the Chariton Charger Girls Invitational. 

The boys swim meet tonight at the Newton YMCA begins at 5:30 p.m. while the wrestling meets in Oskaloosa start at 6:00 p.m.
