The Marion County Road Department has concluded a busy 2024.

Last year started with multiple major snowstorms, and spring brought some flooding, which delayed some initial project starts. But ultimately, the department had a productive year of road improvements and maintenance. The Marion County Road Department completed $5 Million in road rehabilitation projects, which included $3 million in state and federal grants. The department also completed the T15 Flagler Bridge replacement and a two decade old capital project began to take shape at Junction 92.

The road department is responsible for snow removal on county roads and Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian reminds citizens to give plow drivers space as they work.

“We are working quickly to get the roads open. That’s our goal. We have other things here at the department that we like to do in the winter other than plow snow to get ready for the rest of the year. We’d like to get them open and move on to our next task as well, so just give us room to work, slow down, use caution, and give us plenty of distance if you’re following a plow.”
