A major project over the next decade will be the replacement and upgrading of the City of Indianola water infrastructure from Indianola Municipal Utilities. General Manager Chris Desplanque tells KNIA News IMU is trying to weigh the balances between the growth of the city over the last several years, and replacing old infrastructure from a previous growth boom.
“We’re certainly working on incremental upgrades, there are a couple of main projects that are the core and will continue on for the next 10 years. There are infrastructure needs throughout the state and we are no different. A lot of our town’s growth happened in the 70s, and those pipes and infrastructure have a 50-year service life, so we are bumping up against that.”
