Indianola Municipal Utilities is warning local homeowners to help prevent frozen pipes and potential water damage. IMU General Manager Chris Desplanque tells KNIA News extreme cold weather can freeze water in the pipe and potentially cause damage, and ways to prevent that include insulating exposed pipes, open cabinet doors, keep the temperature turned up, letting a faucet drip, sealing air leaks, and knowing where the main shut off valve is located.

Desplanque also said to not forget to disconnect hoses from outdoor faucets and turn off their water supply.
