The Newton boys and girls bowling teams suffered losses in Sigourney Monday, as the boys fell to Sigourney-Keota 2902-2834 and the girls lost 2375-2023. Cardinals head bowling coach Christie Lester said first time varsity bowler Mackenna Burns had both the high game and high series for the girls squad. Burns’ high game mark was 181 pins, while her series total was 306. Jeremiah Killmer posted the high game for the Newton boys at 224, while Austin Kennedy bowled the high series with a 400. The Cardinal boys and girls bowling squads are both now 3-2 this season, and next compete at home against Oskaloosa on Saturday, January 18th.
