New Knoxville Police Officer Brad Young was sworn in and three different TIF districts were retired at Monday’s Knoxville City Council meeting.

Officer Young was sworn in at the meeting by Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch and received the official oath of office. The city then approved adopting ordinances repealing current ordinances which would retire the TIF districts. Those included are Eric Drive, Industrial 3M, and Five Star and this means that property taxes will go back to flowing normally for these areas. The council also approved a service contract with Veenstra and Kimm Inc. for building inspection services and approved the purchase of a new municipal accounting software.
