Work on resurfacing Jasper County Highway F-48 West from Colfax east to the South Skunk River Bridge just south of Interstate 80 is scheduled to start no later than May 5th. The Jasper County Board of Supervisors approved a $12,600 contract with Snyder & Associates of Ankeny for additional engineering services on the project at their meeting earlier this week. Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch says Snyder & Associates designed the road improvement.
“We will submit that to the Department of Transportation to use Farm to Market funding to cover that. This will allow them to participate in the pre-construction meeting and be available to us if we have questions regarding their design during construction.”
InRoads LLC of Des Moines has been awarded the $2.55 million construction contract for the 3.1 mile section of Highway F-48 West that needs resurfacing. Phase one of the project was completed this past summer, and resurfaced the Highway from the South Skunk River bridge east to Newton.
