The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Football teams were released Tuesday and the Central College football team had eight players selected at the NCAA Division III level.

Tight end Grant Nelson and free safety Reece Miller were chosen for the third time in their careers. Center Maximus Reitano, cornerback Ben DeMeulenaere and cornerback Gavin Smith were honored for the second consecutive season. Defensive end Nick Bandy and linebackers Cael Fiderlein and Cole Clark were all picked for the first time.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve at the varsity level and achieve a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA (4.00 scale). Each institution can nominate a limited number of players who are then considered for CSC Academic All-American honors. 

This year’s Academic All-American squad will be announced on January 28th.
