New Jasper County Sheriff Brad Shutts says his number one priority is taking care of the department’s employees. To do their jobs effectively, Shutts says they have to be mentally and physically sound. 

 “Back when I first started, mental health with first responders really wasn’t looked at. That only recently came around. We want to make sure our employees are there physically and mentally so they can do their jobs effectively. So that is really my top goal, making sure our employees are taken care of.”

Shutts says another priority is making some updates to the twenty year old jail, to make sure the facility remains a safe place for both employees and inmates.
