The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams fell to Dallas Center-Grimes on the road Friday night in a Little Hawkeye Conference varsity doubleheader heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Indianola girls fell to the Mustangs 55-31. The Indians got out to a strong start in the first quarter holding the Mustangs to just four points in the first quarter and ending the frame with a 9-4 advantage. DCG was able to score 20 points in the second and fourth quarters to doom the Indians and pull away. Indianola was led in scoring by Madison Grover who had nine points. The Indianola girls basketball team falls to 3-8 on the season and 2-2 in league play.

The Indianola boys fought in a back and forth contest with the Mustangs but ultimately came up short 76-61. The Indians led 15-10 at the end of the first quarter and 30-28 at half, but DCG was able to outscore Indianola 20-10 in quarter three and 28-21 in the fourth to secure the win. The Indianola boys were led in scoring by Easton McGraw who had 19 points. Boys head coach Jeff Ebling says his team fought hard in the contest.

“We just couldn’t find a way to get some stops down the stretch. We got lost a couple of times trying to defend that dribble hand off weave that they like to do. They took advantage so you have to give credit to DCG. Our boys definitely came in and fought. We just have to continue to work, level off that defense, and continue to bring up the offense every night.”

The Indianola boys fall to 2-6 overall and 2-2 in league play. The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams will be back in action on Tuesday against Pella.
