The Indianola boys wrestling team won the Jack Mendenhall Invitational on Saturday at Ames High School, while Indianola boys swimming team placed 4th at Grinnell and the Indianola girls wrestlers went 1-2 at Carlisle.

The Indians boys wrestlers scored 207.5 team points to place first out of a large field on Saturday. Top finishers for the squad included a first place finishes from Mac Crosson at 138lbs and Carson Slorah at 215lbs, and second place finishes from Jake Pontier at 157lbs, Ryan Young at 144lbs, and Xander Overton at heavyweight. Indianola will next wrestle on Friday.

The Indianola boys swimming team placed fourth at Grinnell with 301 team points. Top finishers for the Indians included Ethan Russell 2nd in the 50 Freestyle and 3rd in the 100 Freestyle, Ryan Torrence was 5th in the 500 Freestyle, and the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Alaka’i Moore, Anthony Burkhead, Nate Gondek, and Ethan Russell placed fourth. The Indians will host Des Moines East on Tuesday at the Indianola Wellness Campus.

The girls wrestlers fell to Carlisle 42-33 and Williamsburg in a close match 36-34, but defeated rival Norwalk 36-18. The Indians will next wrestle in the Bob Sharp Invitational on Friday.
