Indianola Parks and Rec is hosting the next edition of their Afternoon Adventures series next Tuesday, featuring one of baseball’s all-time greats. Kathy Kester with the City of Indianola tells KNIA News after losing the World Series in 1922, Babe Ruth and Bob Meusel set off on an eighteen-game Great Plains barnstorming tour that created lifelong memories for people who would have never otherwise had a chance to see a major league baseball player, which kicked off in Iowa.
Author Timothy Grover, who has researched and written about this chapter in the life of an American icon, will be the free speaker. The series is sponsored by Community 1st Credit Union and hosted by Indianola Parks & Recreation, and takes place at 1pm.
