Girls Place 2nd At Marshalltown
Both Knoxville Wrestling Squads were in action on Saturday. The girls placed 2nd at the Allie Morrison Duals in Marshalltown going 4-1 on the day. The Panthers defeated BGM in round one 60-18, beat BCLUW/SH 42-30 in round two, handled Columbus Catholic 66-6 in round three, and doubled up West Fork 48-24 in round four. The Panthers’ only loss was to the host Bobcats in round five 48-36. Knoxville also finished runner-up in total team points with 252. Knoxville also had the most pins of any team with 15 on the day. Individually Knoxville’s Cally Landis led the entire meet with four pins. Also earning falls on the day was Alyssa McCreery with three, Serenity Turner, Brynlee Brooks, and Laila Pedicini with two each and Destiny Keith and Mariah Ripperger had one pin, each. The Panthers have a quick turnaround as they duel with West Marshall on Monday.
Boys Compile 1-2 Record at Norwalk Duals
While the girls were in Marshalltown, the boys faced bigger schools at the Norwalk Duals on Saturday and went 1-2. Knoxville fell to Davenport North in match one 64-17. Dawson Guillion, Tristan Sinnard got falls while Regan Roberts recorded a technical fall. In match two, the Panthers beat Cedar Rapids Washington 53-24. Knoxville benefitted from several open weights from the Warriors. Joe Finnegan and Roberts got pin wins while Liam Lindgren got a technical fall victory. The Panthers fell to the host Norwalk 82-0 in the 3rd match of the day. The Panthers are in action on Thursday at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in another quad meet.
