Pella author Carol Van Klompenburg has released her latest book “A World in a Grain of Sand: Lively Little Stories of Household Stuff”.

The new book is Carol’s fourteenth publication, with her previous works featuring a variety of topics including Bible study guides, Sunday School Christmas program scripts, and collections of Dutch recipes and trivia. In her latest book, Van Klompenburg explores memories of a variety of her household items in eight sections based on themes. Carol said the inspiration for the book was to share the stories of her possessions with her children and grandchildren, but was encouraged to share them with a broader audience by her writing group.

“When I tell the story of my stuff, I’m also in a way telling the story of my life, because it’s the history of things, of relationships, of the people who gave me the things if they did. And I often wish that I knew more about the stories of things that I inherited from my parents and my grandparents. And so, at least my kids and grandkids will have as much as I know of those stories.”

Van Klompenburg will present her new book at an event at the Pella Public Library at 2 pm on Monday. Copies of the book will be available at the event, or can be purchased on Amazon or at Pella’s Curiosity Shop after January 20th. Hear more about the book from Carol on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
