The Newton Community School District is asking parents, staff members, and the public to provide feedback on the proposed 2025-2026 school calendar. Comments can be made via the school district’s website www.newtoncsd.org/announcements or facebook page “NCSD Cardinals” through this coming Sunday, January 19th, and will be reviewed that week.

The 2025-2026 calendar that’s proposed by the Newton School District’s Calendar Committee has classes starting on Monday, August 25th and ending on Friday, May 29th, 2026. Winter break would start on Monday December 22nd and run through Friday, January 2, 2026. Spring break next year would begin Friday, March 13th and go through Friday, March 20th. Graduation for Newton High School’s Class of 2026 would be on Sunday, May 24th.

Newton School Superintendent Tom Messenger says the Newton School Board will be asked to approve the 2025-2026 school calendar as is, or with revisions, at their next meeting.

“There’s a public hearing on January 27th where the board can hear comments from the public. Then potentially the board would approve the calendar that night.”

That Monday, January 27th Newton School Board meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the EJH Beard Administration Center at 1302 First Avenue West.
