The Indianola School Board approved the school application for Dropout Prevention funds from the state, meant for programs to keep kids in school and graduating. Superintendent Tara Paul tells KNIA News 75% of the funds come from the state with a matching 25% from the district, and the board will have to have a detailed plan for what the money will go towards.

“Some of those funds go towards our school counselors, not 100% of their salary because they don’t spend 100% of their time working with at-risk students. But some of their salary comes from these funds, as well as at the high school we have an online learning center, all of that comes out of here. We have at-risk coordinators, and all of their salary source comes from these funds.”
