Roof repairs have been completed to 24 city-owned facilities in Newton that sustained significant damage in a May 7, 2023, hail storm. Newton Community Development Director Erin Chambers has signed the Statement of Completion Form which signifies that from the city’s perspective, the repairs have been completed as required.

In October of 2023, McCoy Roofing in Newton was awarded the contract to make the roof repairs for $83,905 dollars. Chambers says there were no cost overruns. 

The 24  damaged structures were in eight different Newton city parks and cemetery locations. Some sustained hail damage beyond just their roofs.
