Work on legislation begins in earnest after a more ceremonial week to kick off the annual Iowa Legislative Session.
State Senator Ken Rozenboom started his 13th session this week in the Iowa Senate to begin the 91st General Assembly. He will serve on the Agriculture (Vice Chair), Natural Resources, Education, and Transportation Committees.
“I previously had a two-year stint on the State Government Committee, and I return to that assignment, but now as the chairman of the committee. I also return to the Rules and Administration Committee and take on a new role on the Ethics Committee.”
Rozenboom will now also serve as the President Pro Tempore of the Iowa Senate.
“This means that I will preside over the Senate proceedings when Senate President Amy Sinclair is unavailable, and this puts me in a leadership role, allowing me to perhaps work with some of the younger and newer members of our caucus,” Rozenboom wrote in his newsletter.
Rozenboom believes property tax reform will be a long-term discussion as several other issues come before legislators in the coming weeks. He previewed the upcoming session on last weekend’s In Touch with South Central Iowa podcast.
