Looking to bounce back from going 1-2 a week ago, the Pella Christian girls basketball team returns home tonight for a non-conference matchup against Albia on Eagle Lane.

Competing on the road in all three of their games a week ago, the 5-9 Eagles opened the week with a win over Knoxville, before falling to Class 4A #5 Dallas Center-Grimes and Indianola. The 10-2 Lady Dees were also in action three times last week, defeating Knoxville and Newton on Tuesday and Thursday, before dropping their second game of the year to Class 2A #1 Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Friday. Albia has been led on the season by junior Lillian DeMoss and senior Olivia Sheffield, who average 12.4 and 12 points per game respectively. After falling to the Lady Dees by just two points a year ago, Pella Christian head coach Brendan Foughty says his team is excited to get an opportunity to avenge that loss.

“We left Albia last year pretty frustrated with the loss there, so I know our girls will be motivated for that one. Albia is a good team that just beat Newton by 15, a team that we struggled with at their place. So, Albia is going to be a really good test, Lillian DeMoss is a great player that really competes well, so I’m excited for that challenge.”

The Eagles girls basketball game against Albia tonight can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS and viewed live on the Pella Christian YouTube channel, beginning with pregame coverage at 7 pm.
