Trained volunteers with Jasper County RSVP are available to help prepare income tax returns for income qualified filers starting February 4th. But Jasper County RSVP Director Sarah Patterson says appointments can be scheduled now.
“We have been doing taxes for free for a long time. We do have a threshold income of $67,000, and no farm or rental income. We love helping people and have kept money in people’s pockets in Jasper County and we are very proud of that.”
Appointments are available in Newton, Colfax, Kellogg, and Monroe. They begin in Newton, on the first floor of the DMACC Building, starting Tuesday, February 4th. Select evening and weekend appointments are also available. Appointments for free income tax assistance at the Colfax Library can be scheduled between 9 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 22nd. Appointments at the Kellogg Christian Church can be made for Monday, February 10th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., while appointments at the Gathering Place in Monroe are available from 2:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 3rd.
