A Pella couple has been identified as the victims of a SUV vs. motorcycle crash that occurred near the Texas-Mexico border.

Multiple media reports from the area say that Dale and Evelyn Baarda died from injuries suffered when a Buick collided with their motorcycle Friday afternoon in McAllen, TX. The other driver involved was arrested and did not have a license to be operating a vehicle.

The Pella couple has previously won preservation awards from the Pella Preservation Trust and Dale served as a Pella Police Reserve from 1989 to 2010.

Garden Chapel Funeral Home is handling the arrangements, with a memorial service scheduled at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 3rd at Trinity Church.
