The Knoxville Fire Department has released their 2024 annual report.
According to the report, the department saw a 9.3% increase in calls for service in 2024 which included the department responding to 2,488 calls for service. The fire department responded to an average of 6.8 calls per day and had 238 calls for mutual aid, with Pleasantville making up 113 of them. In 2024, transfers out of Knoxville Hospital increased by 12%, medical calls increased by 4%, and fire calls increased by 27%.
Fire Chief Cal Wyman stated in the report that “The Knoxville Fire Department continues to provide the highest level of fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical care, and professional customer service to the residents, business owners, and visitors of our city. It is the department’s desire to make an impact in our community by preserving life, preventing harm, protecting property, and promoting excellence. The men and women of the Knoxville Fire Department’s remarkable efforts are bolstered by a robust history, strong positive traditions and a culture of commitment to the “greater good”.”
