The 2025 Knoxville Panthers vs. Cancer event was held Friday night at Knoxville High School.
Knoxville High School’s annual event is aimed at raising funds and awareness for cancer, helping community members overcome a cancer diagnosis, and having access to the best care and treatment plans possible .Funds raised from the event are donated directly to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics Foundation. The aim for this year’s fundraiser is to assist in providing helpful materials for the new state-of-the-art cancer infusion center, which is currently open and serving patients at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics.
The event includes an auction, t-shirt sales, and a ceremony that took place between the girls and boys varsity basketball games against Davis County. The ceremony honors individuals who have been personally affected by cancer and is a way to celebrate the funds that are raised to fight the disease. Those who were honored Friday night were Lori Bailey, Sandy Dyer, and Greg McCarty. Knoxville Girls Basketball Coach Matt Ritchardt is an organizer for the event and he tells KNIA/KRLS it was another successful year.
“It’s been a great event. Three excellent honorees. Obviously the support that Knoxville gives us and you look out and see all of the gray shirts with pink on them and it’s just a really cool day.”
Last year the event raised $26,000 for cancer care in Knoxville and KNIA/KRLS will provide fundraising results from this year’s event when they become available.
