The Lynnville-Sully School District will have a new School Resource Officer next school year. Jasper County Deputy Cory Van Kooten has held that position since the School Resource Officer program began there three and a half years ago. But he is being promoted to Patrol Sergeant effective March 1st. Jasper County Sheriff Brad Shutts says he already has someone within the Sheriff’s Department in mind for the Lynnville-Sully SRO.
“Currently we do have someone who is interested. We will want to introduce them to the staff in Lynnville-Sully and make sure he works with them well like Cory did.”
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department is also working towards getting a School Resource Officer for the Baxter School District.
