Pella Christian Bowling Teams Drop Matches Against Newton Saturday
Despite solid efforts, the Pella Christian bowling teams fell to Newton at Statesmen Lanes in Oskaloosa on Saturday. The Eagle boys posted their best score of the season but ultimately fell short against the Cardinals 3280-2306, while the shorthanded girls squad was defeated 1980-1242. Leading the Eagle boys in the loss was Andrew VanKooten with a 2 game score of 314, followed by Alex VanGorp at 312, Logan Nunnikhoven at 311, and Evan DeJong at 301. The Pella Christian girls were led on the day by Macy VanDerHart at 273, followed by Bella Pu at 210, Sophie Guo at 188, and AnnaBelle Carter at 155. With the losses, the Eagle boys fell to 1-7 overall on the season while the girls dropped to 0-8. The Pella Christian bowling teams return to Statesmen Lanes next Saturday, this time competing as the road team against Oskaloosa at 12:30 pm.
Pella Christian Boys Basketball Looks For Bounce Back Game at Centerville Monday
Looking to bounce back from a loss Friday night, the Pella Christian boys basketball team begins a three-game road stretch this week at Centerville on Monday.
The Eagles struggled in their final game of a 1-1 week, falling to Oskaloosa 62-44 on Homecoming Friday after defeating Fairfield 65-38 on Tuesday. After starting the season 3-5, the Big Reds have dominated their last six games, winning all six by double-digits with three coming by 30 or more points. During their six-game winning streak, Centerville has posted 79.5 points a game and averaged a 29 point margin of victory. The Big Reds are led by the trio of Malachi Rice, KJ Rice, and Abram Decena. Malachi leads Centerville in scoring with 20.6 points per game, while KJ and Abram average 17.5 and 11.3 points a contest.
The Pella Christian boys basketball game Monday night at the Centerville Lakeview Complex is slated to tip-off at 7 pm.
