The Melcher-Dallas Girls basketball Squad made it to the Bluegrass Conference Semifinals with a 60-42 win over Diagonal while the boys ended their run in the B-G-C Tournament with a 53-23 win over the Maroons in a consolation round game on Monday. The girls had control of the game for most of the way but did not shake a pesky Diagonal until a late run in the game to put it out of reach after the Maroons got a 16 point lead down to eight with four minutes remaining. Addi Wadle scored 29 points while Kesley Reed scored 12. Melcher-Dallas advances to Thursday’s semifinals where the Saints will host Lamoni. For the boys…it was another easy win over an outmanned Diagonal squad. The Saints established the tone early and never allowed the Maroons to gain any traction. Drew Heaberlin scored 16 points to lead the Saints going four-for-seven from three point range. Reece Chiabotta scored nine points…ten rebounds…six steals and four assists. The Saint boys are not scheduled to play again until February sixth when they travel to Cardinal.
