
The Pleasantville girls and boys basketball teams fell to Van Meter at home Monday night in a West Central Conference varsity doubleheader as the girls wrestling team hosted the Trojan Duals.
The girls basketball team fell to the Bulldogs 49-13 as the boys dropped their contest 66-52. The girls were just trailing 10-8 at the end of the first quarter but only scored five points the rest of the way to fall to 9-8 overall. The girls were led in scoring by Kyleigh McConnell who had four points. The boys team was down 26-21 at half but Van Meter put the game just out of reach in the second half to secure the win. Pleasantville boys coach Taylor Phipps said his team battled all four quarters and it was a tough and physical game. The Trojans fall to 6-8 on the season and were led in scoring by Braylon Bingham who had 25 points. The Pleasantville basketball teams will be back in action on Friday at Woodward-Granger.
The Trojan girls wrestling team went 0-4 at their home Trojan Duals. Pleasantville fell to Ankeny 66-6, Creston 42-6, Gilbert 42-18, and Albia 60-12. Addie Koenig and Amelia Latch both went 3-1 on the night for the Trojans. The Pleasantville girls wrestling team will next compete on Friday at their regional meet hosted by Central Decatur.
