The Marion and Warren County college basketball teams renew their rivalry tonight in P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium on the Central College campus, as the Dutch square off against Simpson in an American Rivers Conference doubleheader.
In the women’s game, the Storm are looking to extend their winning streak in the matchup to 47 consecutive games dating back to 2003, and are also looking for their fourth straight win after defeating Dubuque 75-68 on Saturday. In addition to trying to end that streak, the Dutch women are looking to bounce back from a hard-fought, 12-point loss against #12 Wartburg on Saturday. The two teams opened up conference play against one another back on November 26th, with Simpson using a big second quarter to secure a 95-87 victory.
The Central men are also looking to build on their own streak over the Storm, having won the last seven matchups since 2021, including winning the November matchup in Indianola 100-79. In addition to trying to win their eighth straight game in the rivalry, the Dutch men are looking for their third consecutive victory after defeating Wartburg 77-63 on Saturday. While trying to end the seven game drought against Central, the Simpson men will try to snap a recent four-game losing skid, after falling to Dubuque 95-71 on Saturday.
The doubleheader between the Dutch and Storm tonight can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS, 94.3 KNIA, and watched on the Central Dutch Network, beginning with pregame coverage at 5:15 pm.
