The Marion County Board of Supervisors held a lengthy discussion on a funding request presentation from the Marion County Library Coalition at their meeting Tuesday morning.

The coalition is made up of representatives from all five libraries in the county. Marion County provides funding to the libraries to use for access to books and educational resources, internet access and technology, and programs and events. Last year the county provided $85,000 in funding to the libraries and the coalition asked for $95,000 for the upcoming fiscal year. There was no action taken on the funding request, but the board will discuss it further during their budget meetings next week.

The Board of Supervisors also appointed Bruce Lefler to the Marion County Civil Service Commission, heard a compensation board recommendation that will be discussed further next week, and approved a 168th Place bridge replacement along with Iowa Department of Transportation detour agreements.
