The Simpson women’s basketball team won their 47th straight game over Central Wednesday night 76-49, while the Central men earned a sweep over the Storm for the fourth straight year with an 85-60 victory, and both games of the doubleheader were heard live on 92.1 KRLS and 94.3 KNIA.

In the women’s game, Simpson jumped out to a 21-15 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. The Storm advantage grew to 36-26 at halftime and 59-39 at the end of the third quarter, before going on to secure the 27-point victory. Simpson outshot Central 49% to 35% from the field in the game, and 44% to 16% from behind the three-point line. The Storm put four players in double figures in the win, led by Molly Lutmer with a game-high 22 points. Haley Rasmussen added 21 points in the win, while Maddax DeVault and Ella Anderson chipped in 11 and 10 points respectively. CeCe Moore was the lone Dutch player to reach double-figures, collecting her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. 

In the men’s game, Central took control of the contest early and cruised past Simpson. The Dutch grabbed a 19-6 lead seven minutes into the game, and pushed the advantage to 46-27 at halftime. Central kept their foot on the gas in the second half, building up a 30-point edge with seven minutes left in the game, before the Storm cut the final deficit to 25. The Dutch outshot Simpson 53% to 38% from the field in the game, and 45% to 24% from behind the three-point line. Five Central players scored in double figures in the victory, led by Karson Wehde who tied his career high with 21 points. Bradley Curren scored 14 points, Joshua Van Gorp chipped in 11 points, and Will Henricksen and Grant Uecker added 12 and 10 points respectively off the bench. The Storm put three players in double figures, with Levi Gurwell leading the way with 14 points, and Zay Howard and Michael Kasperbauer each adding 11. 

The Simpson women are now 11-8 overall and 7-3 in American Rivers Conference play, while the men are 4-15 and 1-9, and both teams travel to Wartburg on Saturday.

The Central women are now 11-8 overall and 4-6 in the league, while the men are 12-7 and 7-3, and both teams return home Saturday to host Coe.
