The Norwalk boys wrestlers finished the regular season with a 21-4 dual record following Thursday’s 46-18 win at Urbandale. The Class 3A 11th-ranked Warriors won nine out of 13 matches, scoring bonus points in seven of the nine victories.

Norwalk seniors Kadan Borcherding-Johnson at 165 pounds, Kolton Borcherding-Johnson (285) and Aiden Moret (126) all won by fall. Liam McLaughlin at 150, Dominic Tigner (157), Tyler Stanford (175) and Asaiah Martinez (113) won major decisions.

Ninth-ranked Ankeny also defeated Urbandale 45-24 but did not wrestle Norwalk. The Warriors and Hawks will meet in the first round of Class 3A Regional Duals on Tuesday night at Carlisle. Norwalk travels to Dallas Center-Grimes on Saturday for the Little Hawkeye Conference Tournament starting at 10:00 a.m.

BASKETBALL TONIGHT

The Norwalk and Indianola basketball teams will finish their season series tonight at the NPECC in Norwalk. Varsity action begins with the girls game at 6:00 p.m., followed by the boys game.

The Warren County rivals split their doubleheader on December 20. The Norwalk girls defeated Indianola 69-30 and the Indians won a low-scoring boys game 37-32.

The Class 4A sixth-ranked Warrior girls improved to 16-1 overall and 7-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference with Tuesday’s 78-36 win over Pella Christian, getting seven 3-pointers and 36 points from freshman Braylyn Birmingham. The Indianola girls got past Oskaloosa 35-28 and are now 6-10 overall and 5-3 in the LHC.

Both boys teams also won on Tuesday. Norwalk topped Pella Christian 53-40, improving to 7-7 and 5-3. Indianola outscored Osky 79-64, improving to 4-9 and 4-4.
