A resolution on the agenda of the Pella City Council will be to consider approval of opening bids for the proposed indoor recreation facility at their meeting on Tuesday.
Engineer’s estimates for the buildout of the facility now fall between $28 and $36 million without factoring in contingency funds, slightly revised down from 2024 projections. The base bid includes nearly 64,000 square feet, two full-sized gyms, a competition swimming pool, indoor track, two fitness rooms, and weights/cardio.
A list of alternates for the project–or the extra $8 million in projected costs, includes two more gymnasiums, replacing the turf area for an indoor recreation pool, and expansion of the parking lot south. Each of those could be considered individually by the council as additions.
A bid letting would be held to reveal the results on March 11th with a yes vote this week, with the Pella City Council to vote on those for approval or rejection of a contract on April 15th at a public hearing.
The Pella City Council meeting begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Pella Public Safety Complex. Find the full agenda here.
