The Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad will try to nail down no worse than a share of the South Central Conference crown tonight when the class 3A #3 Panthers take on struggling Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. The Panthers are off a 22 point win over Centerville that Coach Joel Keady told KNIA/KRLS Sports that the defensive play was still not where he wanted it to be. Keady says it is a balancing act to still have expectations and keep his team focused while understanding tonight’s matchup heavily favors the Panthers.
Keady: “There’s not a perfect way to do it. trying to get them to focus on what they need to accomplish long term rather than short term and trying to get them to focus that way.”
The girls will welcome class 2A top ranked Rockets as Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont can clinch the outright conference crown with a win. In the last meeting, the Panthers got off to a very slow start in a 69-23 loss. Coach Matt Ritchhart tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his team has improved since early in the season scoring around 40 points in the last few games. Tonight’s action is set to begin at 6:30 with pregame at 6:15 on your radio home for Knoxville Sports 95.3 KNIA.
