The Knoxville City Council approved a purchase agreement for an ambulance with the Indiana Township Fire Department Monday night.

The Indiana Township Fire Department approached the Knoxville Fire Department about purchasing an ambulance from them that they were going to be trading in once a new ambulance they had purchased arrived. Knoxville is selling the 2016 ambulance for $30,000 and Indiana Township will pay for it in installments as their department works off an annual operating budget of $24,000 a year. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says this is an agreement that will benefit both parties.

“We were approached by Indiana Township in request to purchase that ambulance at the same cost of what we would be receiving in trade in. Their current operating ambulance is a 1995 and so this would be a significant upgrade for them and while the 2016 ambulance is needing to retire from Knoxville in the amount of calls we do a year, it will be a great addition to the Indiana Township and be able to last them a significant amount of time for the number of calls they do each year.”
